What to Wear for Maternity Photos (Without Buying a Thing)

Let’s be honest—deciding what to wear for maternity photos can feel overwhelming. You’re growing a baby, your body feels different, and the idea of dressing up for photos might be the last thing on your list. I get it. That’s exactly why I’ve made wardrobe styling part of your experience when you book a maternity session with me.

You don’t need to buy anything. You don’t need to fit into anything. You don’t even need to know your “style.” You just need to show up. I’ve got the rest.

The Client Wardrobe: Soft, Flowy, and Flattering

When you arrive at my natural-light studio, I’ll have a full wardrobe ready for you.

These aren’t just pretty dresses—they’re hand-selected pieces that photograph beautifully and feel good on your changing body.

I keep the color palette soft and natural: creams, whites, warm taupes, dusty mauves, earthy greens and soft colors. These tones flatter every skin tone and bring the focus where it belongs—on the connection between you and your baby.

Most of the gowns are:

  • Stretchy or adjustable to fit a range of sizes

  • Flowy with movement to bring softness and light into your images

  • Designed for comfort—no stiff fabrics or tight seams

You’re welcome to try on as many as you’d like before your session. If you’ve booked a newborn session as well, we can use this time to test out what you might want to wear postpartum too.

Styling the Whole Family (Without Stress)

If your partner or older children are joining the session, don’t worry—I’ve got styling suggestions for them too. I keep pieces on hand for little ones and can help coordinate everyone’s look so it feels cohesive, not matchy.

The goal isn’t to look like a magazine spread. The goal is to feel like you—at ease, connected, and confident.

Real Talk: You Don’t Need to Change Anything About Yourself

You don’t need to lose weight, fix your hair, or wait until you feel “ready.” You’re already doing something incredible—growing a whole human. These photos are about honoring that.

So many times, moms tell me after the session, “I almost didn’t do this. I’m so glad I did.”

So here’s your permission to take the easy route.
Use the wardrobe. Let me help.
You deserve to be remembered in this season—not when you feel perfect, but exactly as you are.

Thinking of spring? Feels like we haven't had winter here yet with this record breaking heat in December, but I'm feeling ready for longer days, early morning walks, flowers budding and signs of new life.
Motherhood stretches you, changes you, fills you in ways nothing else can.
These are the days when time both stretches and disappears. One day blends into the next, and suddenly they’re a month old.

2025, you were full in the best way.
This year in the studio looked like little fingers wrapped around mama’s hand, brand new babies settling into safe arms, tiny smiles turning into belly laughs, and families learning how to just be together long enough for it to show.
I’m still undone by how fast it all goes.
Thank you for trusting me with your season.
For showing up tired, hopeful, pregnant, postpartum, joyful, tender, and real.
These highlights are a little love letter to the families I got to work with in 2025.
Here’s to more connection, more presence, and more moments that actually matter.
Eight years of tradition.
Eight years of families walking through these doors, year after year.

Some of these kids have been coming since they were babies. Some have grown up and moved on, and that feels just as meaningful. Being a small part of their childhood memories is something I’m truly grateful for.

Here’s a glimpse into a full day of quiet moments, nervous smiles, whispered conversations, and the calm magic that happens before Santa even says hello.

I’m deeply grateful to the families who trust me with this tradition, and to the Santa who has shown up year after year and become part of so many childhood memories.

When I first started this, I had no idea how it would be received. I’m so grateful it’s become part of so many families’ holiday traditions.
