The first year of a child’s life passes in what feels like the blink of an eye. One moment you are holding a newborn in your arms. Before long, you are celebrating a first birthday and everything that year has held. Sessions like this remind me how meaningful baby photography in Davis County can be for families as their children grow.

This sweet one year milestone session took place in my natural light home studio in Bountiful with mom, dad, and their little boy. He was curious, playful, and clearly loved being the center of attention.

One Year Milestone Session

Instead of a traditional cake smash, we used one of my wooden cakes since mom preferred to avoid sugar. It created such a sweet moment as their little boy explored and played. His parents stayed close, enjoying every bit of the milestone.

Milestone sessions at this age are always full of personality. One year olds are expressive and curious. They are just beginning to show the world who they are.

Sessions like this are often part of my Motherhood Collective baby’s first year sessions. The Collective is designed to document a baby’s growth throughout the first year. Many families begin with newborn portraits and return for milestones like three months, six months, nine months, and one year. Some families choose a simpler rhythm such as newborn, six months, and one year. Others finish with an outdoor family session around eighteen months.

A Motherhood Thought

The first year of motherhood stretches a parent in ways nothing else quite can. There are sleepless nights, constant learning, and so much love growing all at once.
