Two!

Sweet – Charming – Funny – Contagious – Adorable – Heart Throb

My Baby just turned Two!

Hard to believe it’s been two years already since that warm January day I walked into the hospital just to check and see if I was in labor.
I’m not one who can risk it, I had my second baby so quick I was afraid I’d sneeze this one out. His birth story is a classic “just like the movies” where I’m laying there one new year’s day, 9 months pregnant with 2 weeks  to go, watching the New Years Day parade when suddenly out of nowhere I was hit with a level 7 contraction, followed by another one 2 minutes later.
I jumped in the shower after the third one (in less than 5 minutes) to see if the hot water would help ease the pressure.  After getting out and realizing they were a minute and a half apart, I called the hospital and warned them I’m coming (HA! wait until you hear the reason behind that one). We jump in the car and head off no more than 45 minutes after the first contraction.
We arrive at the hospital at about 2:45 and with the aid of an amazing Doula, my husband and midwife, I deliver my 9lb 6oz bouncing baby boy at 7:16 pm.

Newborn days have a way of slowing everything down. The outside world keeps moving, but inside the home it’s all feeding, holding, and learning someone new.
It’s okay if these days feel like a lot. They are.
The images we surround ourselves with shape what we remember.
So much of motherhood begins before the baby even arrives. In the waiting, the wondering, the becoming.
A newborn doesn’t know schedules or expectations. They only know connection.
